Advocacy and Consultation Services
All the faithful have rights within the Church, and canon law recognizes that taking these rights seriously means providing a remedy in cases where rights are violated. Canon 221 §1 states that "the Christian faithful can legitimately vindicate their rights which they possess in the Church in the competent ecclesiastical forum according to the norm of law." The vindication of rights includes the right to representation and a legal defense in the form of an advocate and procurator. Canon Law Advocacy and Mediation Services offers consultation regarding the rights of lay persons in the Church and advocacy services in cases where rights have been violated.
